The city scene has two really good less noticable gags although the cricket with no wings was pretty funny.

     - The boxes and bottles in the city all have names on them. Well, guess what. Those are the names of the writer's kids! Here are a few examples:

      

     - A big bug comes up to a corner where several bugs are standing. As they climb onto his back, he says, "Making all stops to the septic tank, including standing water, empty bean can, and deaaaaaad RAT! Watch your stingers! All aboard!"

Even a great film like this makes mistakes. I found one. When Flik sets off to the city, the only three ants that follow him to the edge of Ant Island are Dot and the two boy ants. One of the boy ants says that his dad bets that Flik is going to die. Later on, the same ant says that it's the other boy ant's dad that thinks Flik will die. I wonder how they messed that up.

Everyone who saw the movie saw the mural that the second-graders drew, but I'm not sure that everyone got one of the jokes in it. Dot points to a particular part of the mural and says, "We drew one of you dying because our teacher said it would be more dramatic!" The dead one was Heimlich! That may be the reason that he got sick from the mural. I didn't get this one at first.

Did anyone besides me notice how the outside of the bug bar was labeled? It seems that the bar was originally a can of "Papa Riviera's Low-Fat Lard."

Inside the bug bar are even more jokes. Just about all of them are heard. One of the most obvious ones is the "no salt" joke. Jokes that you might have overlooked are little ones. As Flik walks in the door, someone can be heard saying "Buzz off!" Someone else, I'm assuming a fly, says, "Hey, waiter! I'm in my soup!" Another bug says, "I've been working out. Go ahead, feel my wing!" A tipsy sounding voice says, "I know an old lady who swallowed a fly."

There are at least two Toy Story, or Pizza Planet, references in the movie itself. (There's one reference in the "bloopers," but I'm not going to talk about it.) One is the Pizza Planet truck that's parked beside the trailer. It's the same one from Toy Story. There's also a Pizza Planet Mega Gulp cup on top of the bug bar.

In the grasshopper hideout, there are some funny things going on that not everyone saw. Just about everyone's seen the mosquitos being thrown like darts at a cactus. However, one grasshopper uses one of the mosquitos to pick his teeth while he's wating for his turn to throw it. Another grasshopper is dancing with a mosquito to the mosquito mariachi band. A couple of dim-looking grasshopper are trying to sing along to the song "La Cocaracha." They only know the first few lines. They sing them, get dumbfounded looks on their faces, and sing it again.
